Clarkston vs. Stevenson

Shame on you for blatantly calling a 18 year old a cheater and a liar. How much of a man/woman are you? THAT is despicable. YOU should be ashamed of yourself. It's a football game, life goes on for those who win and lose, they go on to grow up and most lead productive adult lives, they grow up, why can't you?

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

We do not know what the coach told the kid. He may have mistakenly handed the ball off. But that is not the issue. The issue is, Stevenson's player number 7 clearly dropped the ball and pushed it down in the last two seconds of the game. The officials called it a spike. Go to the MHSAA website and view the tape for yourself. You will see it in slow motion. You will also hear the commentator point out that it is not a spike. Also, please consider the fact that this boy, player number 7, clearly cheated. He is well aware that he did not spike it, rather he pushed it. Shame on this player for this despicable act and anyone that would support it. Incidentally, at around 38 seconds you will see there was no fumbling of the football by Clarkston. That too is very visible. At least MHSAA finally put the video up around 12:30 pm today so you can see for yourself.

This is a travesty. Clarkston was robbed and Stevenson goes to the State Championship, cheaters. Nothing to be proud of.

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

You're probably right that the game may not be available on the MHSAA website for more viewing but not because they are afraid of additional scrutiny of the officials. If there ia ANY reason to mothball the tape, it's to minimize the number of people who will agree that the Clarkston coach took his trip to Ford Field and handed it to Stevenson by his bonehead decision not to take a knee and run out the clock. It's not difficult to understand why Clarkston fans are not up in arms over that major coaching blunder that will keep them out of the finals: easier to blame the refs.

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

MikeyRaz - Bogus facemask call? Why then, did the SHS receiver make that motion on his own facemask seconds before the call was made by the official? He knew it and so did the ref, and the Clarkston coach. Second - We would not even be talking about this if there wasn't the most phantome pass-interference call I have ever seen made against SHS to keep Clarkston in the game. That said, bonehead move by Clarkston Off Coordinator to keep ruinning instead of a knee. Sure was a bad fumble call, but the officiating team was terrible all night (on that facemask, why not automatic first down?) on both sides, and the clock crew was F-ing retarded, flat out.

Tom Winslow - No offense, but the field at Atherns was better suited. I saw IKE/Dakota at Dakota. The visiting stands at Dakota are FAR smaller than those at Athens, talk about a safety hazard. Second, the scoreboard at Dakota is horribly placed. If you are on visiting side, no chance to see it becasue the student section is constantly standing. The scoreboard at Athens is first class all the way, far sup[erior to Dakota's (same one at Troy High)and far more visible for all fans. Fianlly - parking. Sure, Dakota has a few lots, but Troy, has many lots directly at the school and several business less than 1/4 mile away that are closed after 5 or so and perfect for parking at the game. I did not see a single Troy cop patrolling lots/businesses and ticketing or towing. Concessions and bathrooms? Far superior at Athens.

Final note - Did see L. Brooks Patterson at the game, he actually stayed the whole game, despite their being no bar at the concessions building. Go Brooksie!!

PS - quit your whining Clarkston fans. If Clarkston was truly superior than the game would have been decided by the third quarter. There may be reason that Clarkston has never gotten the title game?

Hug a ref today and play next week!

How did you watch it on your computer!? I searched for ever trying to find a feed. I'm in Texas working and Stevenson is our family's home town high school. I was being updated with text messages from my wife and thought for sure we lost. Thanks in advance! ~g

Great game !

A lot of discussion already on the calls made by the officials all throughout the game but even moreso at the end. However, when Clarkston gained a first down with less than a minute to go with Stevenson holding just one timeout, the decision to not fall into victory formation by the Clarkston coach simply took their inevitable trip to Ford Field away from the players and gave Stevenson the opportunity to win. He can question the referee's calls all he wants, but he should question his clock management decision to not take a knee first and foremost.

The Scene, ahem....

Hi posters...Tom W. reporting back and I can see from some posts here that you will get all kinds of 0pinions on what happened with the officiating last night with Clarkie/Stevenson....goofy calls all over the place with mostly an inept crew (**Didnt I just say in a earlier post I hoped MHSAA would send their best officials...guess I wuz wrong***)....how bout the person running the clock last night???? He couldnt keep it straight the whole night messing up the downs, time, time outs and everything else....add seconds, take away seconds, teams running the ball with a first and ten and the clock showed 3rd and 5 to go!!! Yikes!!!!! Then the fact that the stands at Athens were dangerously oversold and overpacked....in an emergency no one could have been helped....game should have been played at Dakota or Chippewa Valley in my mind....still cant figure out how a punt is blocked, hits the Clarkston player, bounces off of him, Stevenson recovers and yet the zebras rule Clarkston ball and a first down!!!!!!

Please somebody that knows the rules, really knows the rules explain that to me.....Tyler Scarlett is the real deal...that kid hit some solid completions and moved his team very well, but Fracassa was better and proved it time and again....still a disastrous fumble by Clarkie with under a minute to go returned the ball to Stevenson with Clarkie ahead by four....Stevenson kept churning and with Stevenson burning up it's last time out....game over???? wouda, couda, shouda have been...but the Titans fought like Siberian Tigers and then Fracassa pulls his magic act to the total amazement of the world with a TD pass with no time left on the clock....still almost unbelievable finish to a classic game....Clarkston virtually every bit as good as Stevenson and they proved it...last year it was Stevenson who took a gut crunching loss to LO, with a miraculous 49 yard field goal with 3 seconds on the clock....Fracassa with last night's game now holds the state record for passing in a season with over 4000 yards and a mind boggling 42 TD passes this year....amazing....Bye will never have another like him...question that will linger for ages in Clarkston why didnt Clarkie coach take a knee to run the clock out with less than a minute to go?? Why, Why, Why???? Now onto Ford Field and the MAC best vs the catholic league best....no predictions and I wont have any...two tremendous teams to play each other.....

DLS: they get beat by a good Inkster team...DLS can only put up 3 pts on the board and that just aint good enough to win it...DLS has the ball inside the Inkie 30 yard line 3 times in the first half and could not score...DLS with ball on Inkie 3 yard line and they could not score a TD settling for a FG....happens...a TD by Inkie with less than one minute remaining put it away for Inkie....DLSs defense rock solid tough the whole game though.....after a rough start DLS came back strong the rest of the season in supposedly a rebuilding year.....Stevenson again - losing top running back Justice Wright puts a severe hurt on the Titans..yet they keep winning...how many teams can do that losing their very top runner and having to be nearly one dimensional with Fracassa having to pass 50 times a game??? Go figure.....U of M: hopeless and lost....you can only hope the rumors about Jim Harbaugh coming back to Meechegan will be true....Pudge Rod like putting a square peg into a round hole with this program......too many glaring problems with Mich to write about....Wings: pray to the lord Kronwall is not lost to serious injury after getting a cheap shot knee to his body last night by a Montreal cement head....Wings can ill afford to take any more injuries to key players....

later, Tom and peace to all....see yall at FF sat....

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

The game should have never been put into the referee's hands. Clarkston has the ball with a first down with about a minute to to in the game. SHS only has 1 timeout. You go to the victory formation, take a a knee and the game is over before you even get to 4th down. That being said, the officials did blow the fumble call and the ghost spike call. The MHSAA probably won't post this to the web for all the world to see because of the blown calls but Clarkston should be going to the Finals.

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

I was hoping to come to the free press or the detroit news this morning to hear some logic about a couple of things and got nothing. Great reporting? Here's the questions I'd like to hear answered. 1) Why didn't Clarkston just take a knee coach? What member of your brain trust made the call to run it? 2) was the fumble really a fumble by Clarkston? Sure looked like he got stripped while he was laying on his back 3) Stevenson's quarterback clearly fumbled (happened right in front of me) when he was trying to spike it. Why did he get the ball back AND time on the clock when it clearly ran out? 4) what about the phantom "incidental facemask call" that Stevenson got at the end of the game to keep their winning drive alive? Who calls that kind of thing with 10 second left? Unfortunately the lousy reporting here will find none of those answers, nor will the worst refereeing I've ever seen at this level. We'll be talking about this for years. Stevenson is a great team and the luckiest Division 1 finalist in history.

Hug a ref today and play next week!

You are correct. This game starts to raise the question is it time for instant replays in High School. With so much work all year, it seems a shame a school gets robbed "twice" in the final minute and the year is lost. I know the refs are only human, but to blow two calls in the final 39 seconds is questionable.

But you have to go back to why the heck didn't Clarkston take a knee when they stripped it from them after he was down? They kind of put themselves in a position to be robbed.

Devin Gardner

Yesterday was the first time I've seen Devin Gardner play, and to be honest I wasn't very impressed. Maybe he had a bad game, so as a Michigan fan I hope that was the case.

Hug a ref today and play next week!

I watched the game on my computer in Charlotte, NC. This isn't sour grapes; this is absolute BS!Anyone who watched this game (don't respond if you didn't,because you have no objectivity) witnessed officiating at its worst.38 seconds left & the Clarkston RB is clearly down.THEN the ball is knocked loose..after the player is laying on his back! If you were at the game, you didn't have the luxury of watching the replays-I did.Next, with 2 seconds left, the QB for Stevenson received the snap from the center & FUMBLED the ball on the ground. When the QB went to pick the ball up,the ball slipped out of his hands; he had no grip on the ball. Although the QB made a motion to throw the ball, he never had the ball in his hands! Thus, the clock would have run out-game over. I hope these referees NEVER officiate another game. Both teams deserved to win & quite frankly, this game was awesome to watch. Stevenson, be thankful an appeal won't be permitted & hug a ref today-you lost!! Good luck next week.

Stevenson Stolen Game

Didn't any reporters in this town watch the game and if so do any of them have the gumption to tell it like it is.

The Clarkston fumble wasn't a fumble, so the game would have been over then AND more outrageous Fracassa dropped the ball and then picked it up and spiked it. You can't do that - GAME OVER. And you certainly can't do that in 1.4 seconds. No time left on the clock and the officials after witnessing what Francassa did put .4 seconds back on the clock. How many times did Clarkston have to win this game? Apparently, not enough times for these officials.

This is a travesty and it sure would be nice if a reporters actually told it like it was. Watch the last minute of the game. That's all you need to do. Then tell the state how this game was stolen from Clarkston.

Unfortunately, the State Finals are now a joke!!!!

Clarkston vs. Stevenson

I'm sorry, but the article written about this game is bull. I was there and the description of what happened during the last seconds of the game is entirely wrong. Watch the footage and you will see what really happened. I'm not sure what the refs were on, but the calls that lost Clarkston the game were insane. What happens when anyone who was at the game or who watched it at home agrees that the final ruling should be repealed?

Sun. 11/22/09 12:35 AM

Devin Gardner

Devin Gardner is gonna win AT LEAST THREE Heismans during his college career at AMAZIN BLUE!!!!! Coached by the BEST coach in the COUNTRY Coach ROD!!!! He WILL be the first FOUR-TIME National Champion QB!!!!!!

Good luck ANYONE even to be IN the game going into the 4th against the DREAM TEAM!!!
