Terrorism at Fort Hood.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is named as the initial shooter at Fort Hood today. While I don't want to think about this event in terms of simplistic details, or suspicions based on instinct, a lot of friends have been through Ft. Hood, and I can't help but wonder and hope people I know weren't there today.

Maj. Hasan was 39 years old, and if they have the other shooters in custody, the ages of the other shooters may be a hint of the true nature of these horrible murders. Mako out.

Crazy at Ft. Hood

I feel for the tragic loss on behalf of victims and their families and friends.

The largest "fact" that I find puzzling: how can a man armed with only two 9mm handguns, manage to shoot 40 people without being interrupted or running out of targets?

I personally own a retired military-issue Beretta 9mm handgun (likely very similar to the model used) and the standard military magazine for it only holds 14 rounds (+1 round preloaded in the barrel).

Doing the math indicates that he needed to stop and reload at least once (possibly twice depending on accuracy) during the shooting. If people ran and scattered, he would have also needed to accurately shoot and then reload very, very quickly...

How does he manage to do this in a building that is busy processing highly-trained, combat-experienced soldiers? (The building was used for processing returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. Which makes this even sadder...)

I am not going to rush to judgement, but something isn't adding up at this point....

I think I read that the 2 suspects have been released. This certainly does not mean they are innocent... the cops might be fishing... however...

Don't psychologists have a very high suicide rate?

I also don't believe he was "bullied" as the cousin says. Majors in the Army, even non-line officers, do not get bullied.

Crazy at Ft. Hood

It's CRAZY all over this nation! When I look @ what is happening, I think my head is going to explode! But most of us can control ourselves. Others - well, they rape & murder. They even attack children & babies!

CP...Crazy from a Psychiatrist is unsettling. And these reports of two suspects concerns me. Maj. Hasan had physical and mental access to folks at Fort Hood. Are we going to learn if he treated the two suspects? A big hole in the story starts here. Mako out.

Crazy at Ft. Hood

I just can not buy the motive they are giving to this guy. He didn't want to go to war so he walked into a building and started shooting people?

How about this: The guy was a nuts, there is no rationalizing "why".

My hopes and prayers go out to the families who are suffering tonight

I agree that the worst thing we can do is rush to judgement. Lets wait a while until all of the facts are public.
