Minnesota 122, Pistons 114

Impressions after Minnesota defeats the Pistons 122-114. 1) The scary part about this loss was the fact the Timberwolves were missing Al Jefferson and Kevin Love, arguably the team's two best players. Imagine how many points the Timberwolves could have put on the scoreboard with those two available. 2) The Pistons have to play harder on the defensive end. Simple as that. The effort wasn't good at times. 3) If there was any doubt about starting Kwame Brown and Ben Wallace, that was erased after this game. The Pistons need their defensive ability at the start of games. 4) If Brown is able to play, that is. That left hand is bandaged tightly, and Brown said the other day it was feeling worse. The Pistons are awaiting test results. 5) Austin Daye didn't play against the Timberwolves. Kuester said don't read anything into it, but I'd be surprised to see Daye in the rotation early in the season. Daye is also bothered by a sore foot. 6) I had no idea who Minnesota center Oleksiy Pecherov was before this game, but I do now. A good shooter from the perimeter, willing to defend, and the type of player who can succeed in the NBA these days. 7) As good as Will Bynum has been most of this exhibition season, he made no impact this evening.

Piston needs / look in trouble to me

As long as Rod Stuckey keeps playing at a high lever, Ben Gordon feel good and does his thing, Daye, The Euro Kid, and Summers make strong progress, Charlie V moves into one of the best young PF in the NBA, and this new coach shows that he can make game winning decisions in the heat of the battle, this team will come out a winner no matter what they win and loss record are this season.

Try and keep that in mind!

Would a lotto pick be so bad with all the good young PF and Centers coming out of college after this 2009/10 NCAA season? TOP 13 draft pick should net you a good young big man in this draft.

Piston needs / look in trouble to me

Ted:

Welcome to the Pistons beat!! I do not know what the problem is picking starters Brown or Wallace have to start with Tay and Charlie V up front, Rip and Stuckey in backcourt.

Daye should play. No excuses unless too injured. The small lineup should be used sparingly.(it sucks defensively and leads to transition D problems like last night in 3rd Q)Bynum and gordon together in backcourt too small for most lineups!! A Daye should backup tay at the 3 and Jonas backup at the 4. Wilcox can play 4&5 if need offense. Ben Wa Backup 5.Summers can play if needed.

Maxiell in my opinion has to go. JoeD needs a good true PG or center. Personally by the first of the yr....Dumars should consider trading stuckey and Maxiell for Andre Miller in portland(if loses starting job) or Felton in Charlotte (Felton maybe too small) or Trade Kwame and Max for Camby or Kamen.

Big Blockbuster if Daye, Jonas and Summmers progress and Chris Paul still un happy in NO:

Paul, Julian Wright, for Tay, Maxiell, and Stuckey and draft picks (future 2nds) or

Bedrins for Maxiell and Kwame Brown
