Brandy Baker

The Detroit News

Bio: Brandy Baker was delighted to join the talented photo staff of The Detroit News in 2003 after an 8-year stint at The Oakland Press, where she began as a community news photographer covering the Rochester area. "I love photojournalism because you can preserve forever the most ephemeral moments of human emotion and truth and reveal the magic of everyday life," says Baker.

About this Weblog

These are the photos you don't see in the pages of The Detroit News. They are outtakes. Extra shots taken between assignments. Images that caught a photographer's eye for one reason or another -- their wit, their action, their compelling content, their universal appeal. We asked our Detroit News photographers to post their favorites to this blog and tell us about the circumstances under which each was taken. Taken together, they give you a good sense of what our staff photographers are up to.
