FBI raid complaints are unfair

Muslim leaders are angry with the FBI for releasing transcripts that reveal the suspects in Thursday's raid of a Dearborn mosque advocated for the overthrow of the United States government and wanted to establish Islamic law in America.

The local leaders say the tapes are irrelevant to an investigation of a smuggling ring. Sorry, that doesn't fly. Motivation is always relevant. Hatred of the United States is what brought these people together and apparently what fueled their alleged criminal activities.

It's understandable that the Muslim groups are worried about being tainted by the suspects, who were mostly converts to the religion. But the FBI can't be expected to pretend their extreme religious beliefs had nothing to do with the charges.

Muslim Complaints

If the Muslims don't like the laws in this country then they should go back to the Middle East or whatever country they are from.

FBI Shootout

The tapes are revealing by themselves. Let's not create moral equivalencies with people angry over high taxes or the patriot act. Pure hatred of this country and culture and a willingness to act are something that can not be argued with or debated.

Re: FBI raid complaints are unfair

I've listened to several 'tea partiers' express an interest in overthrowing the government - or at least this administration, so they can install a more ideologically acceptable regime. One even followed this sentiment up with the topic of weapons and training.

Even Dan cannot help but to support my point in his own refutation. Note the simultaneous reference to patriotism and opposition of the current administration in the same sentence. Mix that sentiment with the raging emotionalism demonstrated in Dans post and we have strong evidence of my previous point. Is there anyone here who thinks nobody believes more strongly than Dan? The Secret Service has reported that the number of death threats against the president has increased 400% since Obama took office. Pure coincidence or further evidence of my point?

Re: FBI raid complaints are unfair

Wait a minute, Nolan. Just because one wants to overthrow the government does not mean one hates the country. Just look at all the right wingers throwing tea parties. There are elements among them who would love the chance to eliminate the Obama administration and replace them with a conservative government for life. They are of this mind not out of hatred, but claim it for the love of their country. They are superpatriots who would rescind the constitution to "save" their country - as they see it.

You assume they hate their country because they are muslim. But the right wing superpatriots prove this may not be the case. Your assumption may be right; but you could also be wrong about them.
