Very troubling game for the Spartans. Coach Mark Dantonio's team has three starters out because of injury. The health status of Larry Caper (head), Danny Fortener (head) and Joel Nitchman (possibly a leg?) is uncertain. All three are big losses. MSU can kiss a New Year's Day bowl game goodbye. With three games left, the program still needs at least two more wins to be bowl eligible. Of Mark Dantonio's 15 losses, 12 are now by eight points or less. If MSU football ever wants to move forward from its troubling past, something must change. What would you suggest?

Minnesota Loss,
Very well said but I think it is premature to say fire Dantonio.. He does not fumble on the kick off His players are in position to make the plays because of good coaching.
With better recruits coming in a most players retuning for next year they should have a 9-10 win team.
BUT something must be done with the play calling, especially on the goal line offensive sets.. The O line stinks and gets no push but they contiune to run the ball up the middle..
AHHH
Minnesota Loss, & Others
I totally agree with what Eric Lacy wrote. What would you change? The obvious answer is Dantonio. How many games can he get so close to and lose? And how often do you try to score a touch down from inside the 5 yard line with 4 trys and figure out that the Power-I will not work? Play calling on the offense stinks. Why take Cousins out when he just ran a scoring drive? And Defense (Dantonio's strength???), does he know nothing about teaching pass defense. Every time Minnesota throws the ball (and other teams), they make big plays unless their receivers can't hold the ball.
Perhaps John L wasn't successful, but you could at least love him because of his people skills. Dantonio has none. Combine this with poor coaching leadership, what does he offer. Why in the world was his contract extended.
At least it is almost basketball season, and we can look forward to all that Tom Izzo has to offer.
